Mercado Libre announced the creation of the Mercado Libre Commerce Fund, a fund to invest US$ 10 million in financing startups that develop technologies to be used on the company's platform.

The funds will be allocated to technological projects involving the company's APIs and its ecosystem, which includes MercadoPago, MercadoShops, MercadoEnvios, MercadoLivre Advertising and Mercado Livre itself. Priority will be given to businesses that are in the initial stage, but have growth prospects.

“We know the capacity that Latin America has in terms of technological resources and undertakings. Therefore, we want to promote and boost developments so that they contribute to the growth of our platform and e-commerce in the region”, said Marcos Galperin, CEO of MercadoLivre, in a statement.

MercadoLibre was created in 1999 and offers e-commerce solutions. The company claims to have more than 81 million registered users.
