Mercado de software no Brasil superou 26% em 2012

The Brazilian Software and Services Market surpassed the 20% growth expectations pointed out by ABES last year for 2012. This month, the entity will release its traditional annual survey on the Brazilian Software and Services Industry, carried out in partnership with IDC. The survey shows that the national software and services market reached the mark of US$ 24.934 billion in 2012, which represents an increase of 26.7% compared to 2011.

The Brazilian software and IT services industry rose from 10th to 7th position in the international ranking. Today, the Brazilian IT market, which includes software, services and hardware, already represents 49% of what moves all of Latin America, with U$ 60.2 billion.

According to the trends pointed out by the survey, starting in 2013, 90% of the IT market will be directed towards Mobile, Social Business, Big Data and Cloud Services technologies. In 2012, these segments represented only 22% of IT investments. In addition, 80% of competitiveness efforts will be focused on fostering the offerings and enabling of solutions for these technologies.
For ABES, despite the market being heated in recent years, the IT sector remains fragile, predominantly formed by micro and small companies and encouraged by the growth in the presence of international capital in the few large companies in the sector.

According to data released by IDC, in March of this year, there is currently a shortage of about 40 thousand technology professionals in Brazil. By 2015, this number should grow to 117,000 open positions without employers finding qualified professionals to fill them.

"The Brazilian Software and Services Industry is a powerful tool for economic development and wealth generation, but it still needs government support with initiatives that ensure legal security, new lines of support for innovation and intellectual property, and the training of specialized technicians" , says Jorge Sukarie, president of ABES.
