Informal environment, creative freedom and the possibility of testing electronic games are differentials that attract talents to the sector

In the United States, the game consumer market surpassed the Hollywood film industry more than five years ago. This is reflected globally in the growth of career opportunities in the segment. In Brazil, a professional with a background in marketing can earn up to 18 thousand reais acting as a kind of product supervisor - a standard position in traditional market companies - however, focused on the universe of electronic games. And the opportunities of this growing branch of entertainment, unlike the common image, are not restricted to the area of technology.

“The games market has become more professional in Brazil in recent years. It is a common characteristic of the sector to bring together companies with a flexible organizational culture, a young environment and connected to the culture of games and multidisciplinary teams. Today, we can say that the games market grows in a prosperous and stable scenario for professional development. It is worth noting that the games segment is against the Brazilian market. In other words, it grows significantly month by month, while many traditional industries suffer from market restrictions ”, says Ricardo Haag, director of Page Personnel, a consultancy specializing in the recruitment of technical and management support professionals.

To have an idea of the expansion of this market, Page Personnel has registered successive increases in demand for professionals in this segment:

2013: 23%
2014: 37%
2015: 35%
2016: 61%

The idea of working for the games industry still raises doubts for many people, especially when comparing the possibility of building a career in relation to multinationals or consolidated markets. For example, can a game professional earn as well as someone who holds a similar position in the corporate world? "Yes, no doubt. The games industry is very competitive in terms of salaries and benefits. It is fully possible to be financially successful in this sector ”, analyzes Ricardo Haag.
