This disparity highlights the importance of inclusive initiatives and policies that aim to create a more representative and welcoming environment for women in IT. In contrast to this market reality, at Serasa Experian the commitment to inclusion resulted in a more balanced scenario”, comments the Director of Talent Management and Diversity at Serasa Experian, Gabriela Ferreira.

The Executive Manager of IT Architecture at Serasa Experian, Cristiane Kussuki, was encouraged by her father to enter the world of IT. “He encouraged my three sisters and I to delve into Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics since high school. I started the Data Processing technical course at 14 and started working Mainframe programming at 16”, he says. Cristiane then studied Mathematics at USP and completed an MBA in Project Management at the same college, as well as a mini MBA in Computational Neuroscience at the University of Washington. Currently, the professional is also part of the Artificial Intelligence Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Cristiane also recounts the challenges she faced as a woman in IT, which were shaped not by her gender identity, but rather by the complexities of balancing career and motherhood. “From pregnancy to returning from maternity leave, balancing my professional expectations and maternal responsibilities was a challenge in itself. Managing my anxiety about time spent commuting home-work-home and my expectations regarding hours of professional dedication were just one part of this multifaceted challenge.”

For women who want to pursue a similar career, she gives clear advice: “embrace the vast horizon of Technology. We women have the potential to not only thrive, but to redefine boundaries in every sphere of IT, whether as leaders or technical experts. This field offers competitive pay and fertile ground to cultivate the unique brilliance of each of us,” he concludes.
