Program includes training, mentoring and connection of startups

The Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC) launched on April 27, the third edition of InovAtiva Brasil. The main objective of the program, carried out by the CERTI Foundation in partnership with entities such as Endeavor Brasil and SENAI, is to help entrepreneurs transform innovative initiatives in any sector (Information Technology, Industry and Services) into successful businesses.

In the first stage, which runs until June 28, InovAtiva will receive the registration of entrepreneurs to participate in the acceleration cycle. Pre-operational businesses or established companies with up to 5 years of operation are eligible, those with a maximum annual turnover of R$ 3.6 million and which have not received investments greater than R$ 500 thousand. New businesses (spin-offs) created by companies established for more than five years can also participate.

After the initial registration phase, the most outstanding projects move on to the second phase, in which entrepreneurs are in direct contact with mentors – successful entrepreneurs, executives from medium and large companies, investors and consultants – who help startups understand the market and develop their products.

In the third and final phase, after two more months of mentoring, the 100 most structured businesses participate in a business presentation stand for investors and large companies. All program activities are free to participants.

Some differences from the 2015 edition:
  • The MDIC approved a project in the Prosperity Fund, a cooperation program in the United Kingdom, which foresees the travel of 15 finalists of InovAtiva 2015 with the perspective of internationalization to go to the United Kingdom to connect their businesses with investors, accelerators, companies and other British actors. ;

  • In the Industry Innovation Notice, which finances Research and Development projects of companies in partnership with SENAI units, InovAtiva finalists will have an extra score in the evaluation of projects by SENAI;

  • Partnership with the Ministry of Education within the scope of Calls for financial support to projects of companies with Federal Institutes of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education, “CNPq-SETEC/MEC Call – Support for Cooperative Applied Research and Technological Extension Projects”. The novelty is that the MEC will create an exclusive Helpline for InovAtiva Brasil finalist startups within the Call. The finalist companies of the previous editions, 2013 and 2014, will also have access.
