Suggestions must be sent to the MDIC by November 9

 

The Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC) and the Superintendence of the Manaus Free Trade Zone (Suframa) opened a public consultation on the updating of the decree that regulates the granting of tax benefits granted to companies that produce information technology and communication (TIC) in the Manaus Free Trade Zone and who invest in research, development and innovation (RD&I) activities in the Amazon.
 
The concession is regulated by the Information Technology Law, which was modernized in 2017 and 2018. However, the decree that deals with the tax benefit that companies in this economic segment that invest in RD&I are entitled to need to be revised and updated, so that it follows the changes normative.
 
Consultation participants will be able to send their contributions until 11:59 pm on November 9 this year. The MDIC expects to receive suggestions for the amendment of Decree No. 6008, of 2016, which regulates § 6 of art. 7 of Decree-Law No. 288, of February 28, 1967; the art. 2 of Law No. 8,387, of December 30, 1991; and the art. 4 of Law No. 11,077, of December 30, 2004.
 
For the Secretary of Innovation and New Business at the MDIC, Rafael Moreira, the public consultation demonstrates the interest of the federal government in dialoguing with the entire innovation ecosystem, receiving inputs and preparing the most appropriate regulation possible. The initiative is part of the modernization process promoted by the MDIC and Suframa, with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of companies located in the Manaus Free Trade Zone.
