The Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications is public consultation open until November 30th on the creation of a special evaluation procedure for projects submitted by companies benefiting from the Lei do Bem tax incentives. The idea is that the new rule is applied to projects in partnership with micro and small technology-based companies, and also to research related to advanced manufacturing.

According to the general coordinator of Incentives for Technological and Scientific Development at MCTIC, Lúcia Bardi, the objective is to enable these companies to have an analysis of the merits of the project before and/or during its execution. She points out, however, that this does not eliminate any of the stages of accountability for the work performed. “It will be one more guideline, so that the projects are adequate and complying with the law. Nothing changes in relation to the evaluation of these projects after execution”, he says.

MCTIC's Secretary of Technological Development and Innovation, Maximiliano Martinhão, adds that the initiative should stimulate the partnership between large companies and startups, thus encouraging innovation. “We also want companies to invest more in advanced manufacturing, also called Industry 4.0, which is a fundamental field for us to ensure the country's development in the coming years”.
