The Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC) launched on November 8th the public consultation for the National Innovation Policy. MCTIC has been working in partnership with the Center for Management and Strategic Studies (CGEE) to collect subsidies from the main actors involved in the generation of innovative services and products in the country. This information was consolidated for the creation of the public consultation, which will be available for contributions until January 20, 2020 (extended deadline).

Since September of this year, meetings of working groups have been organized, involving government actors, representatives of companies and startups; financial agents; universities and institutions of Science and Technology (ICT); state and municipal secretariats and Research Support Foundations (FAP).

In addition to the meetings organized with these groups, thematic workshops were held with the following institutions: National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), Financier of Studies and Projects (Finep), National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), MCTIC, Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DCTA) and Federal Audit Court (TCU). The process for the construction of the National Innovation Policy document also included a literature review, benchmark and a set of interviews with strategic actors.

The Secretary of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at MCTIC, Paulo Alvim, highlights that the idea is that the National Innovation Policy reflects a horizon that covers the period from 2020 to 2030, with a country perspective. “We have mapped a set of information and are building a base text. This public consultation will be of great importance for the policy proposal, in a very intense process of listening to all interested actors”, he says.

For the Secretary of Planning, Cooperation, Projects and Control, Antônio Franciscangelis, innovation is a fundamental basis for the fulfillment of the MCTIC's mission, to produce knowledge, generate wealth and improve the population's quality of life. “We have a series of challenges and actions that we must carry out to organize the innovation ecosystem in Brazil”, he says. “The National Innovation Policy will help us coordinate this process.”
