The goal is to train new developers, generate qualified jobs and impact more than 10,000 people

Brazil runs a serious risk of not participating in the dispute for the thriving market for mobile applications. Estimated today at US$ 100 billion and growing at an annual rate of approximately 14%*, it demands not only a large but capable developer community.

According to data from a survey carried out by Softex's intelligence, studies and research unit, the deficit of IT professionals in the country is expected to exceed 408 thousand in 2022, causing a loss of revenue of R$ 167 billion for the sector in the period from 2010 to 2020 .

To mitigate this reality, the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC) announces the launch of the Entrepreneurial Training Program. Managed by Softex, it will have the participation of eight institutions covering nine metropolitan regions, concentrating 29% of the population and accounting for 47% of the country's GDP.

The Entrepreneurial Training Program, to be carried out from the beginning of 2020, will have resources in the order of R$ 22 million and aims to train new developers, generate qualified jobs and impact more than 10 thousand people. The didactic material will be made available via the internet (EAD) and, weekly, students will participate in face-to-face sessions in their own and mobile laboratories so that they can perceive in practice the challenges and opportunities of the 4.0 world.

The initiative contemplates carrying out three distinct actions: technological training of young people; development of research, training and incentive to entrepreneurship; research and development for the popularization of mobile applications.

“We want to convert opportunity and challenge into quality of life for society, with the application of disruptive technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), edge computing, blockchain and Industry 4.0, which emerge to transform the country and generate scientific and technical knowledge that can be used in careers such as IT, for example. New technologies, devices and application areas focused on mobile applications can move resources and public policies to solve global problems and help companies to reduce the "gap" between the market and the qualified professionals who will work in these strategic sectors”, highlights Marcos Pontes. , Minister of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications.

Paulo Alvim, Secretary of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at MCTIC, recalls that since the beginning of the year the Government has been working on a set of initiatives with the aim of providing a more favorable environment for those who want to undertake in Brazil through legislation and support instruments. . “Training is a fundamental part of this process. We need more people working with the IT area, developers, qualified professionals with conditions to undertake in this very promising market of mobile applications”, he evaluates.

In addition to technical training, participants will receive training in entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship and will be encouraged to undertake either working in companies or creating startups to propose solutions to challenges that are identified in partner or supporting organizations.

“The actions of the Program will not only directly contribute to the training of thousands of new professionals, university students and high-level technicians distributed throughout all regions of Brazil, but also to strengthen and increase the density of national technology-based companies” , evaluates Ruben Delgado, president of Softex.

The eight institutions that will participate in the Entrepreneurial Training Program are: Mackenzie Presbyterian Institute (São Paulo), Senac (São Paulo), Pontifical Catholic University, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul units; Brazilian Union of Catholic Education (Brasilia), Eldorado Research Institute (Campinas) and Campinas Association for Software Excellence.
