The MCTIC – Ministry of Science, Technology, Informatics and Communication and BNDES – National Development Bank released this Wednesday (07/05) the priority verticals of the National IoT Plan. They are: Rural, Cities and Health. Two other verticals, called mobilizers, will also be part of this detailing stage and will each house two sectors: Factories (Textile and Automotive Sectors) and Basic Industry (Oil & Gas and Mining Sectors).

Entrepreneur Werter Padilha, ABES representative at the IoT Chamber, created by the government with the participation of the ministry, other Brazilian government bodies, entities and research centers to discuss each stage of the plan, explained that the verticals were selected based on the criteria of demand, supply and development capacity, after an intense phase of research, public consultation and discussions.

"The next step will involve deepening the chosen verticals, defining the vision for IoT in each vertical and preparing the 2017-2022 Action Plan", explained Padilha, who is also coordinator of the ABES committee on the subject. "The Internet of Things technologies are recognized as instruments for the sustainable development of Brazilian society, aiming to increase the competitiveness of the economy, strengthen national production chains, generate products and services that are attractive for export and improve the population's quality of life" , finished.
