R$ 200 million will be made available for project funding

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) launched the Universal Call 2014, with a global value of R$ 200 million.

The objective is to support research projects aimed at contributing significantly to the country's scientific and technological development, in any area of knowledge. Of the total R$ 200 million that will be made available to finance the approved proposals, R$ 50 million will come from CNPq and R$ 150 million from the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT).

Projects must be registered on the CNPq website, through the Carlos Chagas Platform, until June 16th. The dissemination of results is expected to take place as of November and the start of contracting the approved proposals should take place as of December. The maximum term for execution of projects will be 36 months, except for those that have an extension approved by CNPq.

The call also provides for a minimum allocation of 30% of resources to projects coordinated by researchers linked to institutions based in the North, Northeast or Midwest, including the respective areas covered by the Regional Development Agencies.

The proponent may present only one project in response to the Call, choosing a track that adapts to his/her profile, not allowing the implementation of new assistance to researchers who still have current projects from other Universals. Occasionally, unused resources in one of the tracks may be allocated to projects in the other two available tracks.
