In 2013, 25% of Brazilian exports had agency participation

The Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Mauro Borges, took over, in May, the presidency of the Deliberative Council of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). Among the attributions of the entity's council, which is linked to the MDIC, are the approval of institutional policy and strategic planning, deliberations on annual work plans and monitoring and evaluation reports, and approval of the budget proposal.

"Apex's work has been fundamental for the promotion of an export culture in Brazil", highlighted the minister. In Borges' evaluation, the institution's actions are essential for many businessmen to learn how to do business abroad.

"International trade requires a great deal of knowledge, which, most of the time, involves cultural acclimatization, the language barrier and discovering how to negotiate in new markets. In this sense, we are very proud of Apex's work in helping exporters and in building Brazil's image abroad," he said.

In 2013, Apex participated in 25% of Brazilian exports, serving more than 12,000 companies from 84 sectors.
