Geração TEC, the Santa Catarina Government program for training young people and adults in ICT, carried out a mapping of vacancies in 2013, which showed that there is a significant number of vacancies open in the sector, accompanied by a strong demand for trained professionals to fill them . The initial survey pointed to a need for more than 2,400 professionals this year. To find out about this demand, Geração TEC mapped 12 cities in the state for two months.
 
In Greater Florianópolis, 64 companies participated in the mapping, which indicated a total demand of 696 vacancies, 199 of which are current and 497 for the next 12 months.
 
 "The technology sector will represent one of the main foundations of the new economy that we are introducing in the State", evaluated the Secretary of State for Sustainable Economic Development, Paulo Bornhausen.
 
Geração TEC is a program of the Secretariat for Sustainable Economic Development (SDS), carried out through the Foundation for Research and Innovation Support of the State of Santa Catarina (Fapesc) and the International Institute of Innovation (i3), in partnership with the Associação State of Technology Companies (Acate).
 
Launched in 2011, it has already trained and trained 2,092 people in 12 cities in Santa Catarina. For 2013, the State Government has already guaranteed R$ 3.5 million in resources for the execution of the program, which aims to train five thousand people by 2014. medium or have already completed this training stage; who have basic knowledge of computers and logical reasoning; and who are not employed in ICT-related activities.
 
For the president of the Santa Catarina Association of Technology Companies (Acate), Guilherme Bernard, this is one of the most important initiatives for training human resources in Brazil. “The success of previous editions of the program demonstrates the need to continue investing in the development of qualified professionals, leveraging the competitiveness and innovation capacity of Santa Catarina companies”, he highlighted.
