ABGI, a consultancy that has been operating in Brazil since 2006, in the strategic management of financial resources and processes for business innovation, launched the Tour du Monde, an interactive map of the ABGI Group, which presents the main tax incentive policies in different countries.

According to Christimara Garcia, CEO of ABGI Brasil, this map provides more information about the international innovation environment and “can support companies in the analysis of policies that are most adhering to their strategy, profile of innovation projects and investments, especially those planning internationalization. Several countries have mechanisms to support R&D as an economic development strategy, which vary greatly according to the situation in each country”.

the e-book Tour du Monde was based on a 2016 study by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in 45 countries, including 29 OECD member countries, 22 European countries and 4 constituent countries of other major economies.
The study provides a summary view of the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of tax incentive programs for R&D, with several points addressed:
  • Intensity of R&D support incentives
  • Scope of eligible activities
  • Scope of eligible expenses
  • Nature of tax incentives
  • Use of tax incentives
  • Limitation of support
  • Recent program changes
