Brazil Brazil is in the sixth position in the world in number of users

According to the study "Smartphone Users and Penetration Worldwide, 2013-2018", carried out by eMarketer, a quarter of the world's population will have a smartphone in 2015, and 51.7% of mobile users worldwide will use smartphones in 2018, which represents a total of 2.560 billion people.

With regard to Latin America, the report shows Brazil in sixth place among the 25 countries with the highest number of smartphone users in 2014, with 38.8 million; with Mexico in 11th position, with 28.7 million users; Colombia ranked 22nd, with 14.4 million; and Argentina in 25th place, with 10.8 million users.
Already the survey “Mobile Economy: Latin America 2014”, prepared by GSMA Latin America and launched last November, in the city of Quito, reveals that at the end of September 2014, mobile connections through smartphones represented 30% of the total in the region, and will reach 70% in 2020, with 605 million mobile accesses via smartphones. The GSMA expects Latin America to be the second region with the highest smartphone penetration in 2020, behind only Asia Pacific.

"Latin America's high mobile penetration, device modernization with an average smartphone adoption of 30% in the region in 2014, and increased mobile Internet access have contributed to the rapid growth of mobile advertising in our region, where more and more brands want to reach their audience through mobile devices," says Alberto Pardo, CEO of Adsmovil, which specializes in mobile advertising in Latin America and the US Hispanic market.

In terms of mobile advertising, Pardo says that by 2015, Brazil will become Latin America's biggest market by overtaking Mexico. "The United States will continue to be the most important global market and Hispanics living in that country will continue to set trends in the digital domain, being today one of the multicultural groups with the highest penetration and use of mobile devices", concludes the executive.
