Locaweb and Caelum created the campaign “Year of the Code – Come program!”. The initiative arrives in the country to bring programming closer to those interested in technology and to show that everyone can program, all it takes is willpower and dedication. To participate, the interested party must access the website www.anodocodigo.org.br, click on “More Content” and get started, free of charge.

“Creating apps for smartphones, developing games, building websites and robots. All of this involves a lot of programming and creativity. Despite being an ongoing process that requires constant practice, the first barrier to learning will be broken here, thanks to the completely free content and the help of great partners such as GUJ, Alura, Globo.com, Code Miner and Casa do Código” , emphasizes Paulo Silveira, director of Caelum.

The learner (as the participants will be called) will learn about computing through blocks that simulate programming commands. At a more advanced level, he will use the JavaScript programming language to develop his first programs, without having to install anything on his computer. New exercises will be added throughout the year.

In order for the Year of the Code to take effect, it took three intense months of work to develop attractive videos and all the exercises, collect testimonials from Brazilians who work in important companies and create ways for the apprentice to always have access to more content.

According to Luis Carlos dos Anjos, marketing manager at Locaweb, this initiative has the main purpose of encouraging the growth of the technology market. “This means more customers, more trained professionals and more business in the country, in the medium and long term. We believe that this is a great way to bet on our young students and future programmers and entrepreneurs in Brazil”, he adds.
