Lenovo, the largest PC manufacturer in Brazil and in the world, announced that it will invest around US$100 million in a state-of-the-art software research and development center in the city of Campinas, in São Paulo. The facility, which is expected to generate around 100 jobs, represents Lenovo's first R&D center focused on developing software for its Enterprise Product Group (EPG).
 
Lenovo's R&D center will be installed at Unicamp, in the Science and Technology Park, located about 100 km from the city of São Paulo. The project received support from Investe São Paulo, the state investment promotion agency, subordinated to the Secretariat for Economic Development, Science and Technology.
 
"This is an exciting move for Lenovo as it will allow us to expand our Enterprise Product Group brand while investing heavily in research and development," said Roy Guillen, vice president and general manager, Enterprise Lenovo Product Group. "Sao Paulo is the latest addition to our diverse global portfolio of enterprise design centers located in the United States, Taiwan and China. The R&D center in Campinas is Lenovo's first of its kind and will focus on innovating enterprise software solutions and high-end server technology, data storage and cloud technologies. The center is expected to greatly expand Lenovo's global portfolio while providing innovative, high-value software solutions and services to the global market.
