IIG is a reference for countries' efforts to innovate

On September 30, 2015 the regional launch for Latin America of the Global Innovation Index (IIG) 2015 took place, held at the headquarters of the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan), in Rio de Janeiro. The IIG report consists of a classification of the capacities and results of the world's economies in terms of innovation. This year, Brazil is in 70th place in the ranking of nations with the greatest capacity for innovation, based on surveys carried out in 141 countries.

The IIG is an important reference for the effort of nations to climb the steps of innovation. In Latin America, Brazil has two areas of prominence: the highly competitive position of Brazilian agriculture in the global market, despite being pressured by multiple market factors, and the excellence of the aeronautical sector.

The Global Innovation Index 2015, in its eighth edition this year, is published jointly by Cornell University, Insead and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO, a specialized agency of the United Nations). Published annually since 2007, the IIG is now an important reference tool for company directors, politicians and others looking to know the state of innovation around the world.
