The importance of policies to encourage technology and national productivity, the civil framework for the Internet and data security were themes that marked the opening of the 11th edition of Rio Info 2013 (National Meeting of Technologies and Business), held on the 17th of September.

The president of ABES, Jorge Sukarie, in his participation, representing the entities that make up the National Front of IT Entities, highlighted the size of the market, which grew 10.8% in 2012, and the window of opportunity that exists to leverage even more the sector. “A recent study on the software and IT market showed that Brazil is among the countries that invest the most. In 2012, the investment was R$ 60 million, leaving the country in seventh position. The estimate is that in 2013 we will have growth of 14.5%, which, if it happens, will keep us ahead of China”, he highlighted.

Jorge recalled the major sporting events that will take place in Brazil and the Pre-Salt, which will demand even more from companies, in addition to themes that are being closely monitored by sector entities, such as payroll exemptions, regulation of the profession, tax issues that have not yet been definitively clarified, and outsourcing in the sector, among other topics.
