InterSystems, the world leader in information technology platforms for healthcare, business and public sector applications, announces that MediWay Technology – one of China's largest healthcare software companies – has built and deployed its new healthcare IT, the 'iMedical Cloud', using the InterSystems IRIS for Health™.

IRIS for Health, the only unified data platform designed specifically for healthcare, enables MediWay to support all stakeholders in China's healthcare system – including government, healthcare organizations and consumers – in an environment where medical policy reforms are leading to increased collaboration, information sharing and the use of big data.

MediWay's iMedical Health Care Information System (HIS) is used by nearly 500 health care organizations, including over 300 specialty hospitals and 30 hospitals in the Top 100 Hospitals in China. To accelerate digital transformation in this area, however, MediWay and partner company Tencent Cloud need higher levels of accessibility, scalability and interoperability.

Two iMedical Cloud applications, available to anyone interested in healthcare hosted on the Tencent Cloud, were launched with two key functionality – Cloud Transactional Collaboration (Cloud HIS) and Cloud Data Collaboration (HealthChain). The iMedical Cloud application can be used in a region for real-time exchange of health care information, centralized management control and unified allocation of resources. IRIS for Health supports increased data volumes with features like sharding. This role distributes data across multiple cloud-based servers to provide affordable and flexible performance scaling.

“This is a cloud solution that solves many pain points in healthcare,” says William Han, president and CEO of MediWay Technology. “For example, it can provide health care information systems for clinics, community health care centers and small and medium-sized hospitals without the need for computer rooms, local servers or maintenance staff. By supporting us on our strategic axis, InterSystems and its IRIS for Health technology once again demonstrates the true partnership we look forward to after 20 years of collaboration.”

The IRIS Platform for Health assists healthcare organizations with a unified data platform that combines analytical and transactional processing with native interoperability for all types of data, including smooth transitions between healthcare-specific standards such as 'HL7 FHIR ', which stands for 'Health Level Seven Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources'.

The IRIS for Health platform's support for cloud development using container technology also allows MediWay Technology to fully leverage the strategic partnership between its parent company, DHC Software, and Tencent Cloud. This enables MediWay to continue to integrate technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain and speech-based data entry with its cloud-based healthcare solution.
