Challenges include transparency, connectivity and empowerment

To open the discussion on the challenges of artificial intelligence, the subject of one of the panel moderated by Werter Padilha, coordinator of the ABES IoT Committee at the ABES Software Conference, held on 08/20 in São Paulo, Jomar Silva, developer evangelist at Intel , showed how IoT and Artificial Intelligence technologies will increasingly merge, due to the volume of data and connectivity problems. “This will come from the need for data analysis to be done at the edge so that only highly relevant data is sent to the cloud. It will be very difficult for us to see an IoT project in a few months or years without it being related to Artificial Intelligence”, he predicts.

Adriana Silva, Jedi in Analytics at SAS, presented Data for Good, a SAS project that shows how data can be used to make better decisions, such as assessing the vulnerability of children, from various sources. of data, allowing for prevention and intervention in cases of greater probability of risk. “Data has no information, but it drives everything, as long as we work with it to take advantage of it. With data analysis, we can extract value”, he said. Among the main challenges, in addition to obtaining data, Adriana highlights the development of algorithms and the implementation for that algorithm to effectively work.

Fábio Rua, director of Government Relations at IBM, stressed that if Artificial Intelligence is used with transparency and trust, it has the capacity to transform the world. “Artificial Intelligence came to cure diseases, to individualize education, to help people have a healthier, happier life, with less traffic and less bureaucracy, with more efficient, more digital governments and a less unequal society”, emphasizing the importance of algorithmic transparency in order to have security in relation to the proposed insights, as in the case of recommending one medical treatment over another. "It is the doctor's intelligence with the help of artificial intelligence that will arrive at the best treatment decision for the patient".

The event was sponsored by IBM Platinum; SigninaForte, Intel and EMX Tecnologia, as premium sponsors; Caesbra Benefits and Microsoft, gold sponsors; and Totvs, silver sponsor. Partners and supporters: Finep, INPI and BNDES; ACATE - Catarinense Association of Technology Companies; ASSESPRO - Association of Brazilian Information Technology Companies; BRASSCOM - Brazilian Association of Information and Communication Technology Companies; FENAINFO - National Federation of Computer Companies, and SOFTEX - Association for the Promotion of Brazilian Software Excellence.

The event was followed by the Seminar "Brazil 2022 - Independence (Digital) or Death (Competitive)?, in which a study was presented that lists priority and suggested public policies for Brazil to achieve its "Digital Independence" as early as 2022, the year that marks the 200th anniversary of Brazil's Independence.
