Intel will provide development kits to Telit Cup Brazil participants

Intel and Telit Wireless Solutions announced collaboration to encourage Internet of Things entrepreneurship in Brazil. To this end, Intel will provide development kits for ranked groups of Telit Cup Brazil, a competition created to encourage university and technical engineering and technology students to develop their ideas for connected machines that can improve the quality of urban life.

The twelve groups approved in the first phase of Telit Cup Brasil, made up of up to three students and an advising professor from institutions such as USP, Inatel and Fiap, will have until June to present a working prototype of the business plan presented during registration. “Telit modules provide communication functionalities such as 3G, 2G and GPS, and the Intel kit is the perfect accompaniment to process the data sent by the solutions developed by the groups”, explains Ricardo Buranello, general director and vice president of Telit Latin America.

The main objective of the competition is for these solutions to become real-world businesses that can potentially be put on the market and improve the quality of life in our cities. Therefore, the intellectual property of all solutions developed during the competition will belong exclusively to the students and professors responsible for their creation. “Intel and Telit's role is to provide approved groups with kits and technical support during the competition so that groups can achieve their goals. “We're excited to see what these bright young minds can do with our technology,” explains Rubem Saldanha, education manager at Intel.

The first prize of Telit Cup Brazil will be a trip to Las Vegas for all members of the winning group to visit one of the largest technology fairs in the world, CTIA, and make contacts for the implementation of their ideas.
