The Secretary of Science and Technology of the State of Rio de Janeiro has extended registration for the Startup Rio program, which aims to foster digital entrepreneurship. The deadline for submitting projects to the Carlos Chagas Filho Foundation for Research Support in the State of Rio de Janeiro (Faperj) is January 16th. Up to 50 proposals will be considered, totaling an investment of R$ 5 million.

Startup Rio will help transform the ideas presented into technology companies and digital businesses. The process will take place over a year and will start in mid-March. For this, candidates will receive financial support and a space to work in the old building of the Faculty of Law of Uerj, in Catete, which will be renovated by the secretariat.

Those contemplated will also receive support and follow-up in the entrepreneur training program. After nine months, the best projects will be selected to participate in the International Demo Day, which takes place in Rio de Janeiro. At the event, they will be able to present their inventions to international investors.
