The program will have a single edition this year and registration is open until March 5

Registration for the 2018 cycle of InovAtiva Brasil is now open. The startup acceleration program of the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC) and Sebrae will work, this year, with 300 emerging companies, who will receive high-level mentoring and training and will participate in bootcamps and a demoday, when they will present to a bank of investors and large companies. ABES is a partner of the program.

Applications close on March 5th. In 2018, entrepreneurs must fill out the form at InovAtiva platform with registration data and information about the project. The result with the list of companies participating in the program will be announced on April 2nd.

From April to June, the selected companies will participate in a first cycle of mentoring and training courses. On June 9, a regional bootcamp will be held simultaneously in up to 10 Brazilian cities, with individual mentorships and thematic workshops.

Shortly after this event, 100 companies will be chosen to advance towards the stage of connection with the market and investors. In August, the final bootcamp will be held in São Paulo, with a demoday. At this stage, startups will be able to present themselves to investors, customers and potential partners. Subsequently, companies will have another four months of individual mentoring and online training.

Other opportunities

The 200 companies not selected for the first edition of demoday will remain on InovAtiva for a maturing process. Companies continue to have access to mentors and online courses. This group will also have another 100 startups, nominated by partners such as Sebrae and other institutions.

A second edition of the regional bootcamp will be held in September, followed by a new selection of another 100 finalists to participate in the demoday in December. By March 2019, these companies will have mentoring, training and post-demoday connections.

As explained by the Secretary of Innovation and New Business at the MDIC, Marcos Vinícius de Souza, the restructuring of Inovativa will allow companies to have more contact with mentors and, thus, more time to mature their businesses.

“It is important for entrepreneurs to be aware. This year, we will only have one application process”, warned the secretary. According to him, InovAtiva 2018 will have a longer period of training and mentoring, a more qualified demoday and a greater focus on connecting with the market. “After the first presentation stand. With this, entrepreneurs will be more confident in the choices they make to scale their businesses in the market”, he said.

“The new InovAtiva process will enable the selected startups to develop more structured and strategically, which will be able to improve their business model with a focus on management and the market, strengthening their presence in the digital world and with their customers”, highlights the technical director of Sebrae, Heloisa Menezes. According to her, Sebrae has the role of bringing startups closer to mentors and investors, facilitating their connection with the Brazilian ecosystem of innovative businesses.
