Theme will be discussed at ABES SOFTWARE CONFERENCE 2017

Prof. Dr. Eduardo Costa, director of the Laboratory for More Humane, Smarter and Sustainable Cities (LabChis) is one of the specially invited speakers for the ABES Software Conference 2017, which takes place on September 18 at the WTC, in São Paulo. The specialist will address disruptive innovation and what it represents of threats and opportunities for ICT companies, which also need to assess their business model and implement change management processes. He will participate in the panel “Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Business Opportunities”.

Costa cites as examples the serious difficulties faced by Kodak and Nokia, which were unable to maintain their leadership positions and were surpassed by competitors, as well as the market transformations promoted by companies such as Uber and Airbnb, both in the service sector. “This movement will reach the software sector, demanding a correction in the business model, in the way of selling and distributing products and services”, he explains.

How to deal with the threats and opportunities of disruptive innovation? To answer this key question, Prof. Costa will address the concept of “Double Transformation” in his presentation. “The company must focus its resources on what it does best, using all that is modern, innovations. And, at the same time, enter a new business, product or service, using its market potential. I will present several examples of this concept in practice”, he highlighted.

The panel “Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Business Opportunities” will also feature the participation of Irecê Krauss, superintendent of Development and Innovation at BNDES; Rafael Moreira, special advisor for Industry 4.0 and director of Innovative Technologies at the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC), and Jonny Doin, entrepreneur and CEO of Grid Vortex. Werter Padilha, entrepreneur and coordinator of the ABES IoT Committee will moderate.
