“The market is littered with antiquated software built 20 or 30 years ago that can't deliver what modern retailers need,” said Wade Gerten, vice president of Customer Experience & Digital at Infor. “They are looking for alternatives built in the cloud and with native support for mobile. This acquisition will help Infor bring these solutions to market faster.”
Infor is investing in products that help retailers achieve converged commerce, the next step after omni-channel, where retailers use a single system for all customer interactions. Converged commerce not only improves the customer experience with accurate and timely information across all touchpoints, it is also cheaper to operate, avoiding many of the costly integrations required in traditional omni-channel approaches.
“At Infor, we want to accelerate the delivery of solutions our customers want, whether that's by building software like we do for Whole Foods Market, partnering with industry leaders, or buying cutting-edge technologies like Predictix and Starmount. ,” comments Corey Tollefson, Senior Vice President and GM of Infor Retail.
Starmount, which is based in Austin, Texas (USA), posted 41% of growth in 2015. Clients include Abercrombie & Fitch, Burlington Coat Factory, Perry Ellis, and Urban Outfitters. The terms of the agreement will not be disclosed.
