With the objective of offering young professionals the best training adapted to their needs, Indra starts using electronic sports (or e-sports) as a tool to prepare new talents who join the company. The company believes that using video games helps young people improve skills such as teamwork, communication, leadership, quick decision-making, flexibility and continuous learning.

“The methodology aims to train these digital skills and, at the same time, develop the participants' interpersonal skills. In this way, we believe that it is easier to know what their spontaneous attitudes are in the face of pressure situations, for example”, says the company.

The sessions are organized in groups of 30 people and are attended by newly hired professionals or professionals with up to two years of experience in the company. After a short explanation, the youngsters do some individual tests and go through the team competition in the game “Overwatch”. The session ends with the award and a debate on how the activities carried out can be transferred to the work environment.

“In addition to improving skills and applying them in the corporate environment, e-Sports attract young professionals, who demonstrate a high degree of satisfaction with this training and great motivation. Proof of this is the success of the Indra team in the first e-Sports league for companies, held at the end of 2018, in which some professionals from the company were the winners”, completes the company.

The trainings are given in partnership with Psicosoft. The activities are part of the Smart Start young talent program, which last year helped more than 2,000 professionals in Spain and another 1,000 at its international headquarters.

Another action taken by the company recently with the aim of attracting young professionals was to incorporate the Udemy for Business online training platform into its corporate university. As a result, Indra today offers free access to its 40,000 professionals worldwide with more than 3,000 specialized courses.

“The ultimate goal of this cultural transformation is to make Indra a more attractive, stimulating and motivating business project for digital talent. Other pillars of the new culture are the commitment to innovation, diversity and training”, concludes the company.
