Grupo Ibope created Ibope e-commerce to monitor Internet user behavior on e-commerce sites and understand, in detail, consumer behavior throughout the search process, analysis of alternatives and decision to purchase products over the Internet.
 
Of the 100 million Internet users in Brazil in August this year, the reach of the e-commerce category was 61%, with retail store websites having the highest average visit time, at 59 minutes. The e-commerce segment is also driven by the growth of mobility in Brazil. “Devices such as smartphones and tablets already represent 65% and 34%, respectively, of the devices used to search for information on e-commerce products and services in the country”, explains Alexandre Crivellaro, executive director of Ibope e-commerce.
 
In the first 6 months of 2013, men were the ones who bought the most products on the Internet, being responsible for 51% of transactions. Despite the C class being on the rise, the AB class still represents the majority of this universe, with 64% of purchases made over the web. Considering the age range of consumers, it is noted that 62% are in the range of 15 to 34 years.
 
Among the sectors that most sold products over the internet in the first six months of 2013, culture stands out with 26%; clothing and footwear, with 15%; and IT, with 7%. In billing, the electronics sector had the highest index, with 23%, and the average price per purchase was R$ 1,263.
