Launches focus on cloud and cognitive computing applications
IBM has just expanded its Flash storage portfolio to help companies extract relevant information from data for faster decision making and important competitive advantages. Three new solutions were launched that incorporate very high performance – with a minimum latency of 250 microseconds – and functionality required for a cloud environment:
– Plug & Play Flash Storage Alternative for IT Service Providers: The new FlashSystem A9000 comes fully configured, helping to reduce costs when implementing an All Flash environment.
– Scalable Cloud Storage: The new FlashSystem A9000R, with its grid architecture, offers easy scalability up to Petabytes.
Both FlashSystem A9000 and A9000R incorporate key data reduction functions: real-time deduplication and compression, in addition to Flashcore technology that ensures very low latency.
– All Flash systems optimized for enterprise-class servers: The new IBM DS8888 All Flash accelerates databases with data-intensive applications, resulting in far superior business performance.
Businesses today demand cloud-based applications that are fast, simple and intelligent. Low second response times are critical when data is retrieved from the cloud to provide customers with positive, personalized and unique experiences. IBM's MicroLatency technology transfers data from Flash hardware in very little time and without the need for an additional layer of software.
The new solutions also bring features designed to address the main cloud requirements, such as: quality of service (QoS) to prevent the impact of interference that can happen in the performance of applications; secure multi-tenancy; performance; and easy-to-implement scalability.
