With the objective of increasing the competitiveness and productivity of Brazilian companies through advanced manufacturing, the Brazilian Chamber of Industry 4.0 – coordinated by the ministries of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC) and Economy (ME) – built a plan of action for the period from 2019 to 2022, in partnership with more than 30 government, private and academic institutions. ABES is one of the participants in the Chamber 4.0, where it is represented by the counselor, Werter Padilha, by the director of innovation and development, Jamile Sabatini, and by the coordinator of the Regulatory Committee, Andriei Gutierrez.

The action plan seeks to leverage the use of concepts and practices related to industry 4.0 in Brazil and, thereby, increase the competitiveness and productivity of national companies. Other objectives are to improve the country's insertion in global value chains and introduce the use of advanced manufacturing technologies in small and medium-sized companies.

The secretary of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at MCTIC, Paulo Alvim, emphasizes that this is a collective construction of the public and private sectors, with concrete actions for the benefit of Brazilian industry. “The plan will help to accelerate the process of training human resources and disseminate tools for the productive sector to incorporate 4.0 technologies. This will have an impact on increasing the productivity of companies and bring gains to society”, he says.

The document comprises actions and initiatives divided into four themes: Technological Development and Innovation; Human capital; Production Chains and Supplier Development; Regulation, Technical Standardization and Infrastructure. For all these topics, forms of financing and promotion were foreseen to insert companies in the environment of Industry 4.0.

The plan will be valid for the period from 2019 to 2022, and must be periodically evaluated and revised. The implementation of actions and initiatives will be the responsibility of the institutions that acted in the formulation of the plan.

The Brazilian Chamber of Industry 4.0 was launched in April this year by MCTIC and ME, with the collaboration of institutions from the public, productive and academic sectors. The concept of Industry 4.0, also known as advanced manufacturing or the fourth industrial revolution, encompasses innovations in the field of automation and uses technologies such as the Internet of Things and cloud computing.

Mapping 4.0

The government also works to identify all courses, training, events, financial and managerial support programs, in addition to other actions related to the theme. Called “Mapping 4.0”, the initiative has a partnership with Senai Nacional.

Currently, representatives of the Chamber of Brazilian Industry 4.0 are introducing new initiatives and disseminating the mapping to their partners. Access the website at: www.mapeamento40.com.br.
