In order to identify the number of professionals needed in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, as well as the qualifications for each region of the State, Geração TEC started mapping for 2014 in Santa Catarina on January 20th. “We are concerned about providing courses that meet the needs of companies”, says the Secretary for Sustainable Economic Development (SDS), Paulo Bornhausen. This year, 20 cities will be initially mapped, a number that may be expanded throughout the year.

Companies from Balneário Camboriú, Brusque, Blumenau, Caçador, Chapecó, Concórdia, Criciúma, Florianópolis, Itajaí, Jaraguá do Sul, Joaçaba, Joinville, Lages, Mafra, Palhoça, Rio do Sul, São Bento do Sul, São José, Tubarão and Videira will respond to the questionnaire, which includes data on employability and necessary demands. This mapping will help in formatting the courses, number of classes, class schedule, workload and syllabus for the next classes of Geração TEC.

There were 3,632 certifications delivered since the launch of the program in 2011. Free training is offered to young people over 17 years of age, who have completed high school, or who are in their final year.

Created by SDS and carried out through the Foundation for Research and Innovation of the State of Santa Catarina (Fapesc) and the International Institute of Innovation (i3), Geração TEC has a partnership with the Santa Catarina Association of Technology Companies (Acate) and ICT institutions in the cities where the training took place.
