Investment of R$23 billion and focus on inclusion, public services and innovation put the country at the forefront of technology

Brazil took a decisive step towards global leadership in technology with the launch of the Brazilian Artificial Intelligence Plan (PBIA), which will be one of the highlights of the 30th edition of futurecom, the largest connectivity and innovation event in Latin America. The event will take place from September 30th to October 2nd at São Paulo Expo, bringing together more than 300 exhibiting brands and 30,000 professionals in a 25,000 m² area.

At the October 1st, in Plenary 1, the debate will be about the “National AI Plan (PBIA) and national digital competitiveness”. The presidents of the Association of Information and Communication Technology Companies (TIC) and Digital Technologies (Brasscom) have been confirmed, Alfonso Nina, and the Brazilian Association of Software Companies (ABES), Andriei Gutierrez, in addition to Eliana Cardoso Immediato Azambuja, general coordinator of Digital Governance at the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), Prof. Carlos Nazareth Marins, director of the National Telecommunications Institute (INATEL) and Waldemar Gonçalves Ortunho Junior, CEO of the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD). The mediation will be carried out by Walter Wolf, president of the Brazilian Association of Artificial Intelligence (ABRIA).

Presented during the 5th National Conference on Science, Technology, and Innovation, the PBIA foresees an investment of R$23 billion over the next four years. The resources, from federal and state sources, supplementary funds, and private contributions, will be distributed with a focus on business innovation (60%) and technological infrastructure (25%). The initiative also includes the retraining of more than 200,000 professionals to meet the new demands of the digital age.

The plan is structured around five strategic pillars: infrastructure and development; training and qualification; business innovation; public services; and regulation. The goal is to improve the population's quality of life through technological solutions, with an emphasis on the efficiency of public services and the promotion of social inclusion.

Among the planned actions, the creation of a high-performance supercomputer to accelerate the development of advanced algorithms stands out, in addition to the strengthening of the Artificial Intelligence Institute of the National Laboratory for Scientific Computing (LNCC), which will act as a hub for applied research and international cooperation.

The PBIA also proposes the approval of a national regulatory framework for AI by 2027, with guidelines for ethical use, the creation of a multi-stakeholder ethics committee, and the definition of risk assessment standards in critical sectors. Also planned are the consolidation of the Brazilian AI Observatory, the launch of national guidelines on ethical AI, and the creation of the National Center for Algorithmic Transparency.

By strengthening its global collaboration network, attracting foreign investment, and adopting talent retention policies, Brazil is positioning itself as an influential player in the global digital revolution.

2025 Edition

The event will bring together approximately 300 exhibiting brands spread across more than 25,000 m² of exhibition space. For this 30th anniversary, Futurecom Congress will be divided into three knowledge trails:
