By bringing together large corporations with the same purpose, BR Startups becomes the main Brazilian vehicle for stimulating open innovation, through Corporate Venture activity. The Fund already has investors such as Microsoft Participações itself, the Agência de Fomento do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (AgeRio), ES Ventures and Monsanto, which recently invested in intensifying its operations in Agritechs (startups focused on agribusiness).
BR STARTUPS's investment focus is on companies with innovative solutions, with the potential to become global businesses, in the areas of: Cloud based solutions, Education (EdTech), Agribusiness (AgriTech), Industrial Productivity, Mobility ) and Smart Cities, Clean Energy (CleanTech), Health (Digital Health), Internet of Things (IoT) and Public Safety. And now, with Banco Votorantim, it strengthens its operations in the area of Finance (FinTech).
The startups invested by the Fund have a network of partners that will contribute to their development on several fronts: mentoring in strategic areas, operational and technological support, physical space, business networking and financial support. Banco Votorantim will actively provide mentoring in the financial and administrative management of investee companies, also providing part of its most experienced team in this action.
