Standard is aimed at software development companies

Fundação Vanzolini, certifier of ISO 29110-4 for software development companies in Brazil, in partnership with the Union of Informatics Companies in Espírito Santo, the Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Companies (Sebrae) and the Euvaldo Lodi Institute ( IEL-ES), is responsible for the first group in the country certified in this standard for the development process for software companies.

ISO 29110-4 addresses the process of project management and software implementation. Through it, small and medium-sized software developers gain in quality, competitiveness, management techniques and credibility.

Present in Brazil since 2012, but only now in the implementation phase, ISO 29110-4 represents for micro and small software development companies a certification option directed to the demands of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

According to Professor Airton Gonzalez, auditor of management systems at Fundação Vanzolini, the level of implementation of the Project Management Process and the Software Implementation Process is evaluated in the organization's internal processes, in order to verify compliance with the requirements. of the ISO 29110-4 standard.

“The standard is aimed at improving software processes and has two main processes: project management and software implementation. With it, a basis is created for companies to be more successful in their internal and external processes”, says the specialist. Fundação Vanzolini is the first ISO 29110-4 certifier for software development companies in Brazil.

The certification process has the participation of qualified auditors who evaluate the development of certain software and verify the organization's understanding of the requirements of the standard, in particular with regard to the identification of key or significant aspects of performance, processes and operation. of the Software Development Process.

In São Paulo, Pandora Soluções (a software development company) was the first company to undergo an audit process for ISO 29110-4 certification. The company became the pioneer in the country and the tenth in the world to undergo this audit and to have the qualification seal of the standard, having collaborated in the production of the statute of this certification.

According to Mauro Kohan, development director at Pandora, some customers have already noticed the changes and reported improvements in certain processes. “In the process of implementing the standard, we felt improvements, as we were able to detect probable internal delays and, with that, negotiate deadlines in advance, minimizing possible wear and tear”, he says.
