ABES participated in the launch of the front in Brasília
 
Continuing the "Movement in Defense of the Brazilian Legal Market", ABES participated in the launch of Mixed Parliamentary Front to Combat Smuggling and Counterfeiting, on May 14, at the Chamber of Deputies, in Brasília.
 
Led by the ETCO Institute (Brazilian Institute of Competition Ethics) and the FNCP (National Forum to Combat Piracy), the front counts as president, the federal deputy Efraim Filho (DEM-PB) and aims to prevent entry into national territory counterfeit or smuggled goods, as well as reducing crime and misdemeanors in Brazil, in addition to proposing legislative solutions to improve inspection and control standards.
 
During the launch, deputies and senators were present; representatives of the Revenue and Justice; in addition to business entities, such as ABES, represented by its Legal Director, Dr. Manoel Antônio dos Santos and by the coordinator of the ABES Intellectual Property Defense Committee, Rodrigo Paiva.
 
According to an estimate by Idesf (Institute for Economic and Social Development of Borders), the smuggling of goods is responsible for taking around R$ 100 billion from the Brazilian formal market every year.
