Good deeds bring rewards! This statement can go far beyond feelings of happiness, gratitude and fulfillment after participating in a humanitarian action or social project. Want to understand how? So, we are going to introduce you to social impact startup Gooders, invited to participate in ABES SOFTWARE CONFERENCE 2019, on October 14, in São Paulo.

The year was 2017. Fábio Procópio, CEO and founder of Gooders, was looking for an idea that would help provide social organizations with self-sufficiency. He decided to study this universe in depth, the potential market in Brazil and in the world, the consumption habits of the new generations, and found that money is still one of the main factors of engagement in the world. Fábio thought, then, of a business that could encourage volunteering and encourage people to participate more and more in social actions.

From these conclusions came Gooders, a fintech that rewards people for their actions of good. Under the logic of a mileage program, Gooders encourages people to take social action, rewarding them for doing so. On the occasion, publicist Sandro Andrade, Fábio's partner in another company, was introduced to the idea and invited to found the startup. Today, in addition to them, there are 7 other partners, who strategically contribute to the growth of the startup, which operates in Brazil and also in Portugal.

“The big difference for traditional loyalty models is that, in order to accumulate Gooders coins, people need to carry out different types of good actions: carrying out activities demanded by NGOs in the volunteer and donations program; acquiring the social products of the institutions in the Gooders marketplace or the courses at the University of Impact; and, soon, being a customer of our digital bank, which is about to be launched ”, explains Fábio. These coins are used to earn product discounts or acquire exclusive experiences with partners, such as Extra, Centauro, Netshoes, Multilaser, Mitou Camisetas, Iplace, Telhanorte, Rappi, among many others.

The platform's user base in Brazil is formed in partnership with Techsoup Brasil, which has a register with more than 12,000 NGOs, and Atados, which has more than 150,000 volunteers. In Portugal, the partnership is formed with Banco Alimentar, with more than 3,000 NGOs, and the Bolsa do Voluntariado, with more than 50,000 volunteers.

Gooders' goal for 2020, both in Brazil and in Europe, is to strengthen the database of institutions, volunteers and partner companies, generating a greater number of actions and project development, thus contributing so that the startup can be recognized as a important player in the social impact segment.

How to be a benefactor and earn rewards

The person interested in doing good and being rewarded for doing so can download the app (available on iOS and Android) and / or use the webapp (access through the site www.gooders.com.br). After registering, she finds on the platform hundreds of volunteer actions from different institutions. After selecting an action and performing it, the user will receive a volume of "Gooders coins" that can be exchanged for discounts or benefits offered by the partner brands. And to receive more coins, just take new actions. Still in 2019, a money donation button will be made available, which is being awaited with great expectation by most NGOs.

According to Sandro Andrade, dozens of new demands are placed every day by partner NGOs, such as a teacher for an English class, an elderly caregiver, a storyteller, an advertiser to help publicize the institution, people for help to clean a street, among many other modalities. “Gooders has already developed special projects in Brazil and Portugal, in partnership with important institutions and companies. We are in negotiations with some investors interested in being part of our social impact fintech ”, he adds.

Learning to do good

Fintech also has a focus on education, with distance learning courses, brought together under the Let's Gooders banner. “The objective is to make young students aware of the importance of thinking about social impact as something that is present in their daily lives. Aware of the need to think about the community, we will have citizens who are more engaged and adherent to Gooders' objectives ”, explains Fábio Procópio, fintech's founding partner.

During the Let's Gooders integration activities and understanding of the current scenario are carried out, both in Brazil and in the world. Following, the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals are presented, which serve as guidelines for students to develop business ideas that are economically viable. After the good repercussion of the courses in 2019, the startup is already preparing the program for 2020. Bora to engage?
