Finep, the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC) and FITec – Technological Innovations – signed, on Thursday (10/11), a protocol of intentions for technical cooperation and information exchange for the development of actions to implement an Identification, Tracking and Authentication System for Goods, Vehicles and Things, a project known as RASTRO, by the Federal Government. This is the third RASTRO agreement signed so far. In September, the first was signed, with the city of Santo André; and on 10/05, with the city hall of São Paulo.

The document was signed by the MCTIC minister, Gilberto Kassab, the acting president of Finep, Ronaldo Camargo, the director of Innovation at Finep, Rennys Aguiar and the president of FITec, José Luis de Souza. Several authorities and guests were present.

“This is an initiative aligned with other actions of the ministry focused on technological development, and brings the important meaning of streamlining public policies and application in logistics, transport and health, among other sectors”, said Minister Kassab.

RASTRO was created to articulate and integrate all tracking policies in the country, creating an integrated management system for identification, planning and control. Applications cover areas such as transport, logistics, health and safety.

Among the expected benefits are the reduction of costs with logistics activities; improving the control of traffic and goods on the country's borders and highways; integration of public security systems; and increase in tax collection.

“The idea is to intercommunicate all actions in common, to articulate our efforts to concentrate the projects that are dispersed in order to create a single path in search of integration. We want to move forward to give muscle to the good initiatives we have, and FITec is more than welcome in this endeavor”, said the acting president of Finep, Ronaldo Camargo.

RASTRO is executed by an inter-ministerial committee, made up of 12 ministries, created from an ordinance signed by Minister Gilberto Kassab on November 28, 2017. Finep acts as the program's financial agent, developing financing models for the actions.
