According to the FEBRABAN Banking Technology Survey, The topic was identified as a strategic priority for banks’ 100%
interviewed this year

The topic of cybersecurity will gain prominence in the FEBRABAN TECH 2024, largest technology and innovation event in the financial sector, which will be held June 25th to 27th, at the Transamerica Expo Center, in São Paulo. The topic was identified as a strategic priority for 100% of the banks interviewed in the 1st stage of the Febraban Banking Technology Survey 2024, released in May. The event has institutional support from ABES.

For this year, the institutions highlighted that the focus of investments is centered on architecture, infrastructure and tools specialized in strategies for detecting and responding to cyber threats, identity and access management, employee training and awareness, cloud security, penetration testing and encryption of data and information.

According to the research, the total budget of Brazilian banks dedicated to technology, encompassing expenses and investments, is expected to reach R$ 47.4 billion this year. And around 10% of this amount is allocated to cybersecurity.

And this year, FEBRABAN TECH will promote the trail “The vision of the future of banks in ensuring cybersecurity”, which will bring several financial market experts to the debate.

The panel “Anticipating threats: banks always one step ahead in security”, what will happen one day June 26th, from 11:15 am to 12:15 pmin the Gray Auditorium, will have as its highlight the work of the Febraban Cybersecurity Laboratory, which brings together teams from banks to prevent, identify and combat cybercrime.

Far beyond advanced firewalls, proactive approaches have been the great differentiator of the work. Multiple authentication factors and detection of any threat in real time complete the big picture of actions that have been guaranteeing the security and maturity of the Brazilian banking sector.

“Trends and solutions against fraud and cyber attacks”, June 26, at 2 pm, at Auditorio Azul is the panel that will highlight the challenges faced by the financial sector in the digital era, including actions against fraud and cyber attacks, and will provide strategies to mitigate these risks. It will address the importance of technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning (machine learning), to strengthen cyber defenses, and will emphasize the need for industry leaders to stay up to date, always one step ahead, to adopt effective security practices to protect assets and customer trust.

June 27th, 1:30 pm, in the Gray Auditorium, the theme “Security and experience in post-digital identity” will also feature an in-depth discussion on the topic. In the post-digital era, identity verification is essential to ensuring business security and compliance, and the financial sector faces the constant challenge of improving the omnichannel experience while protecting against fraud and preserving user privacy.

At 4:30 pm, also on June 27th, in the Green Auditorium, it will be the turn of panel “AI, biometrics, blockchain… How do technologies work in favor of customer security?”. According to Juniper Research projections, the number of digital identity verifications will exceed 70 billion by 2024. And biometric authentication will be used to secure US$ 2.5 trillion in mobile payment transactions. But where else will biometric verification technologies be used to secure every banking transaction, across any channel? And how will they relate to other trends like behavioral identity, multi-factor authentication and blockchain? How can artificial intelligence be an aid in combating fraud, which can also use AI? These will be some of the topics that will be discussed in the panel.
