FAPESP and the National Research Council of Canada (National Research Council – NRC) announced the second call for proposals under the cooperation agreement maintained by the institutions.
 
The call aims to promote and support collaborative projects between small Canadian and São Paulo companies with a view to industrial research and development (R&D) with high commercialization potential in the global market or in Brazil.
 
The selected projects will be financed by FAPESP and the federal agency Global Affairs Canada, in partnership with the NRC. Canadian companies are eligible for up to US$ 600 thousand and companies based in São Paulo up to R$ 1 million per project.
 
FAPESP will finance projects under the terms, conditions and limits of Phase 2 of the Innovative Research in Small Businesses Program (PIPE). Funding to foster technology innovation and commercialization is available to eligible participants from Canada and São Paulo. Canadian companies are eligible for up to US$ 600,000 and companies based in São Paulo for up to BRL 1 million per project.
 
After signing the bilateral cooperation form, the project partners must collaboratively submit their proposals to FAPESP and the NRC by October 26th. NRC and FAPESP will evaluate the submitted proposals and communicate the results within approximately three months after the deadline for the call for proposals. The start of the projects is scheduled for May 2019.
 
Applicants from the State of São Paulo must submit a proposal via SAGe (www.fapesp.br/sage), in accordance with the terms, conditions and limits of PIPE-Phase 2 (business plan and prototype development).
