Selected candidates will receive up to R$ 1.5 million as an economic subsidy
 
Fapesp and Finep announce the launch of a call for proposals to support the development, by small companies of São Paulo, of innovative products, processes and services for applications in smart and sustainable cities.
 
The smart city is an evolutionary construction, a process that involves the constant search to solve problems through disruptive solutions, making use of materials integrated with sensors, electronic devices and communication networks, which are linked with computerized systems, to data analysis from intelligent algorithms that make decisions.
 
The thematic areas of the call are: Sustainable environment; Urban mobility; Assistive Technologies; Public security; Technologies for dissemination of education and culture; and health.
 
The resources allocated to finance the selected projects are in the order of R$ 10 million, 50% with resources from Finep and 50% with resources from FAPESP. The launch of the call takes place within the scope of the PIPE-PAPPE Subsidy Program.
 
Micro-enterprises, small companies, small and medium-sized Brazilian companies, headquartered in the State of São Paulo and incorporated at least 12 months prior to the launch of the public notice, may participate in the call.
 
The company is expected to carry out research aimed at the commercial and industrial development of the products, which may last up to 24 months. The budget requested in the proposal may be up to R$ 1.5 million.
 
Proposals submitted within the scope of the call will be classified and must follow the rules of FAPESP's Innovative Research in Small Businesses Program (PIPE).
 
Proposals must be submitted electronically, through FAPESP's Management Support System (SAGe), by April 25, 2016. The call for proposals is published at: www.fapesp.br/10066.
