Proposals will be received until April 20, 2017
 
FAPESP and the Financier of Studies and Projects (Finep) announce the launch of a call for research proposals aimed at the agricultural sector. The objective is to support the development of applications in order to innovate procedures to increase the sector's productivity and efficiency.
 
The challenges and themes of the call for proposal were presented by the Secretary of Agriculture and Supply of the State of São Paulo. Among the technological challenges listed by the call are: integrated pest and disease management; failure prediction and planting density in crops; crop forecast; determination of losses from infectious causes in herds. forecast of animal consumption and relationship with performance (including for fish); survey of erosive features through the analysis of satellite images; and financial management of the property.
 
The public selection continues the collaboration between FAPESP and Finep and will support research projects by companies from São Paulo, through the granting of resources from the Program of Support to Research in Companies (PAPPE), from MCTI/FINEP/FNDCT, and resources FAPESP budgets.
 
The resources allocated to finance the call are in the order of R$ 15 million, 50% with resources from Finep and 50% with resources from FAPESP. These resources may not be fully executed due to the merit analysis of the submitted proposals.
 
At least 40% of the allocated resources will be made available to companies with revenues up to R$ 4.8 million. The call is open to micro-companies, small companies, small companies and medium-sized Brazilian companies, headquartered in the State of São Paulo and constituted at least twelve months before the launch of the public notice.
 
The selection of themes
 
According to the Department of Agriculture and Supply, the proximity to rural producers in the State of São Paulo has allowed, through the research institutes linked to the Paulista Agency for Agribusiness Technology (APTA), the Agricultural Defense Coordination and the Technical Assistance Coordination Integral, the survey of demands, based on the real needs of producers.
