Companies that adopt the hybrid cloud are three times more likely
to achieve business objectives and prepare the infrastructure

EMC Corporation released the results of a study showing that business and IT executives agree that digital transformation and the use of hybrid clouds are essential for competitive success in the digital age.

Conducted by the IDG research institute, the study reveals that organizations must "think digitally" to improve user experiences, increase flexibility, generate business opportunities and reduce costs.

With 92% of respondents stating that their organizations' competitive strategy includes digital business initiatives, and 90% saying that digital business is a "top priority" in the next one to three years, it was concluded that the transformative power of digital business is currently a key motivator for IT.

Some of the drivers of these investments in digital technology are:

• Improve customer experience (87% respondents responded that this is a crucial or very important goal)
• Conquering new customers (86%)
• Increase innovation (82%)
• Enable real-time business decisions (82%)

The process of transforming into a digital business is complex and time-consuming, but 63% of participants indicated that they are well on their way to achieving their first digital transformation goals. That said, IT leaders still face obstacles, including:

• Budget and resources (38%)
• Fragmented computing environments (30%)
• Lack of the right technologies (29%)

To address these challenges, IT leaders are turning to hybrid cloud environments, adopting a modernized infrastructure that involves two or more delivery models, including a traditional datacenter, a private cloud, a managed private cloud, and a public cloud. An impressive percentage of 83% of respondents already use or intend to use a hybrid cloud environment, and 73% agree that a hybrid cloud model creates a path to digital business.

Research data indicates that the digital transformation enabled by hybrid clouds helps organizations improve IT agility and make digital business implementation initiatives faster, easier and more cost-effective. In addition, the survey results show that, by reducing IT costs, hybrid clouds allow more investments in digital transformation, and those who have adopted the hybrid cloud more intensively are also the ones who have advanced the most in digital transformation. Of participating organizations, those with a significant number of hybrid cloud workloads are three times more likely to meet their infrastructure readiness and digital business goals than those that have not yet adopted hybrid cloud.
