The report also listed the 50 companies that leaders believe are the most innovative; 87% of Brazilian respondents ranked innovation as their company's top priority for 2016

Innovation is a top priority for leaders of large companies. That's what the report says. The Most Innovative Companies 2015: Four factors that differentiate leaders, released today by The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), which interviewed more than 1500 leaders from different industries and countries, including Brazil.

For 79% of the leaders interviewed, innovation is the main or among the top three priorities of their company. The survey also lists the 50 most innovative companies. Apple and Google again were the first places. Tesla Motors climbed from 7th to 3rd place, Microsoft and Samsung round out the top five.

This year's list brings together a global group: 29 companies are North American, 11 are from Europe, 10 from Asia, 3 from China and one from India. The companies on the list do not make up a specific segment. Five of the top ten places are not technology companies, reinforcing the same result as in 2005, when BCG started the survey. Of the 50, only 12 are technology companies.

Leaders in Brazil, which had no company ranked among the 50 most innovative, rated their companies as strong in innovation. 87% of respondents placed innovation as the top priority or among the top three priorities for their company for the next year, a number higher than 2014, in which 83% of executives listed this item as the main driver for the company's growth.

Despite putting innovation as top priorities, only 14% of global leaders said that the company's investment in innovation is expected to increase significantly. In fact, 52% said it should grow slightly. Unlike Russia and other countries in Africa, Central and South America, Brazilian companies do not intend to invest in innovation as much as they did in the previous year.
