The survey included the participation of 147 offices in Brazil that adopt technologies to optimize process management

As in other markets, the area of Justice is incorporating a series of technological trends into its reality. In the UK, for example, “lawyer robots” managed, in a few months, to drop around $3 million in parking fines, as well as being used to help users in cases of flight delays and cancellations. In Brazil, law firms are using legal software to optimize management, based on innovative features such as artificial intelligence. Technology will not replace the legal professional, but it has been considered, for some years, the main ally for the activity to be performed with quality in a world where the culture of judicialization is strong.

With this in mind, Softplan, the largest legaltech in Latin America, conducted an unprecedented study on the return on investment in the use of technology, such as in the case of legal software. A total of 147 law firms in Brazil took part in the survey, which indicated a reduction of 59% in the financial loss with lost terms after the implementation of legal software.

The survey also pointed out that, in addition to generating improvements for the organizational and managerial climate of offices, the use of legal technology also translates into positive impacts on the environment: 47.5% of offices saved physical space with the reduction in the use of paper, and 39.4% stated that this factor generated monthly financial savings of up to R$ 2 thousand.

The adoption of technologies also increased the productivity of 93% of respondents, who stopped spending about 5 hours a week with bureaucratic activities at work. In other words, the legal software optimized the equivalent of 12% of a 40-hour week. There was also a decrease in stress in lawyers who use technology in their professional routine: 83.5% of respondents agreed that there was an improvement in the work environment after using legal software, and 79,39% agreed that there was a reduction in stress and apprehension during the working day.

In addition, 58.6% of respondents said they had saved on spending on supplies such as ink cartridges, used in paper printing. Adoption of the technology also generated satisfaction among clients served by 72,34% of the law firms whose representatives were interviewed in the survey. The solution also enabled an average increase of 30% in the profitability of the consulted offices.

How the research was done

The research aimed to identify the ROI (Return on Investment or Return on Investment) on the implementation of legal software within law firms, observing how the use of technology positively impacted factors such as space, security of deadlines, financial return, time, supplies and customer satisfaction. In addition to the theoretical part, the research consisted of two other stages: in-depth qualitative research with customers through interviews, — which was essential to collect the data and analyze the result — added to the anonymous quantitative survey, carried out through online forms . In summary, the savings from using the software resulted in increased employee productivity, reduced missed procedural deadlines, with an average ROI of R$ 7,655.00 per year, or approximately R$ 637.92 per month.

Among the technologies available on the market is SAJ ADV, a cloud legal software aimed at the integrated management of legal and administrative activities. Through artificial intelligence, it is possible to carry out the automatic filling of documents, the capture of processes by registering with the OAB, with security and access control. The software also has a mobile version, simplifying the lawyers' routine. “With this, lawyers will be able to carry the office in their pocket, being able to consult information in the Courts or in their records from anywhere”, emphasizes Gabriel Bat Kauffmann Schüler, Marketing Manager at SAJ ADV.
