Brazil-Germany Chamber initiative enables startups to connect with German companies

On May 29, the Brazil-Germany Chamber launched the 4th edition of the Startups Connected Program, an initiative aimed at developing new businesses between startups and large companies.

“Increasingly, large companies are looking to connect with startups in order to map trends, create products and enter new markets. This does not happen by chance, it is almost a common sense that startups bring speed and originality in their solutions as differentials. This is why we, from the Brazil-Germany Chamber, have been dedicating ourselves since 2015 to open innovation with startups”, says Bruno Vath Zarpellon, director of Innovation and Technology at the Brazil-Germany Chamber.

The Startups Connected Program is an acceleration program that promotes not only the connection between startups and large companies, but also the co-creation of new solutions together with the anchor companies.

This year, the program has 9 challenges from the most varied segments. Check below the challenges and the respective companies participating in this edition:

• Production Chain 4.0 - Volkswagen
• Data Farming – Bayer
• Digitization of Production Processes – Siemens
• Circular Economy - BASF
• Industrial Energy Efficiency – GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation)
• Patient's Journey – Hospital Alemão Oswaldo Cruz
• Innovation in Pulp and Paper – Voith
• Sustainable Urban Mobility – German Ministry of Environment, Nature Preservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU)
• TravelTech – Lufthansa

Startups that have solutions for one or more of the above challenges must apply by July 19th. Since its 3rd edition, the Startups Connected Program has had a partnership with the SENAI/SEBRAE Innovation Notice for the Industry. This partnership makes it possible for startups to enjoy the benefits of Category C of the Public Notice, which range from access to the structure of the SENAI Innovation Institutes, to the availability of inputs and specialists.

The winning startup of each challenge is accelerated for 5 months, having access to several benefits according to its profile and stage of maturity. These benefits are mainly aimed at the project to be developed together with the respective anchor company, however, they can also be offered for the development of the entrepreneur. To expand the benefits offered to startups, the Startups Connected Program has partner companies specializing in strategic areas, such as: innovation management, business development, finance, legal issues, innovation incentives, etc. The full list of benefits can be accessed on the initiative's website.

Startups based in Brazil and Germany can apply. To formalize the registration, it is necessary to present the startup, the proposed solution for the challenge and tell a little about the team involved in the project.
