The meeting was an initiative of ABES to highlight the relevance and demands of the sector

The president of BNDES, Maria Silvia Bastos Marques, received this Thursday (10/13) a group formed by representatives of ABES (Brazilian Association of Software Companies), Assespro (Federation of Associations of Brazilian Information Technology Companies), Brasscom ( Brazilian Association of Information and Communication Technology Companies) and ACATE (Santa Catarina Association of Technology Companies).

The agenda for the meeting, which took place at the bank's headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, included a presentation on data from the Brazilian software and services market, technological trends and the importance of renewing public policies to foster innovation. Irecê Fraga Kauss Loureiro, director of IT and Communication at BNDES, who was one of the speakers at the ABES Software Conference 2016, also participated in the meeting.

“The Information Technology area has penetration in all sectors of the economy, that is, it has a fundamental positive influence on the great transformations underway in the areas of services, agribusiness, industry, health, among others. The sector contributes strongly to increasing the competitiveness of companies, improving the population's quality of life, generating jobs and Brazilian economic growth”, recalled Francisco Camargo, president of ABES.

Extremely receptive to the associations' suggestions, Maria Silvia highlighted the BNDES' new role in inducing development, innovation and competitiveness. She asked the associations for a summary with the suggestions for improvement for the lines of development and also noted that many of the suggestions are in line with the improvement projects that the bank plans to implement, such as making the programs less bureaucratic and simpler. Currently, the BNDES is conducting a study on IoT (Internet of Things) in Brazil.

Another topic discussed at the meeting was the survey promoted by ABES to detect the financing needs of companies in the IT sector, which is in the phase of compiling and analyzing the answers. The result should be discussed at a new meeting with bank representatives.

It is worth remembering that the BNDES is responsible for the Innovative MPME development line, of which ABES is one of the creators and partner, which aims to support micro, small and medium-sized businesses that innovate in the IT sector, which have revenues below R$ 90 million in the year, offering financing at an interest rate under special conditions.
