Selected companies may receive up to R$ 1.5 million

 

Enel, a distribution, generation, transmission and energy solutions company, launched a public call for startups in Brazil. The initiative aims to develop partnerships with companies that develop innovative products and services aimed at Enel's areas of interest: Digitalization (IoT), Renewable Energies and Storage, Social Development, Energy Efficiency, Fintech, Smart Cities and E-Mobility. Interested startups can access the website www.enel.com.br and submit projects through the link www.energystart.com.br, until September 30, 2017.
 
“The energy sector is undergoing transformation and we want to be a protagonist in this process. We want to expand our portfolio, implement new business models in all the segments in which we operate. The bet on startups is part of Enel's Open Power positioning. We are open to new partnerships to face these changes” says Enel's Director of Innovation in Brazil, Bruno Cecchetti.
 
The company will be able to invest up to R$ 1.5 million, through R&D resources, in each selected startup. The initiatives will be evaluated by an advisory board and, according to the evaluation, may even participate in an immersion in the Enel Innovation Hub in San Francisco or enter into global or local partnerships with the Enel group.
 
Selection
 
Enel and strategic partners will form the advisory board that will assess various criteria, such as business model, team composition, stage of development the project is in and the company's growth potential.
 
After screening, registered startups will be classified in one of four categories: Research & Development (R&D), Innovation Hub, Commercial Partnership or Acceleration.
 
In the R&D category, the company will invest in each selected startup to develop a joint project. In the Innovation Hub category, startups go through an international committee to then take an immersion in San Francisco, at Enel’s Innovation Hub, in Berkeley, to take a specialization course according to the startup’s needs and exposure to networking. local.
 
In the Commercial Partnership category, in which they will be nominated for a commercial partnership or to become suppliers for Enel's areas, in Brazil or abroad. Startups can also be classified in the Acceleration category, where they will receive support from ACE, one of the largest startup accelerators in Latin America, and investment from Enel, in addition to participating in mentorships with experts from Enel and Google.
 
Energy Start
 
Energy Start is the first program in Latin America dedicated to the search for energy startups to accelerate and develop partnerships and was created by Enel, in partnership with Ace, in 2015. In all, Enel has already selected 16 startups (more than thousand have already been evaluated) that develop innovative products or services in several areas and has already established some type of partnership with 11.
