Companies in the software sector in Campinas, which should close the year with revenues of R$ 1.5 billion, want to transform the city center into one of the state's high technology centers and participate in a process of revitalization of the region. “There are companies interested in installing themselves in the Center and, if the government acts as an inducer, the sector could leverage the revitalization”, said the consultant and founder of Núcleo Softex Campinas, Fábio Pagani.

Campinas has around 200 software companies, whose revenues have been growing by an average of 30% per year. Several of them are already in the Center and others will go if there is a policy and a definition to make this region an information technology (IT) hub, which includes granting tax incentives and participation of the administration as an inducer of attracting investments. On the other hand, the companies would recover the buildings where they installed themselves.

Mayor-elect Jonas Donizette said that the proposal has his support, as he wants to use the revitalization model carried out in Puerto Madero, the port region of Buenos Aires, which today is an important tourist, gastronomic and financial center of the Argentine capital.
