The 23 incubated companies invoiced R$ 7.7 million in 2016

The MIDI Tecnológico incubator, founded and maintained by the Santa Catarina Association of Technology Companies (ACATE) and Sebrae/SC, released a survey that maps the main indicators of incubated and graduated companies. Elected four times as the best incubator in Brazil by Anprotec, MIDI is home to 23 start-ups in technology and helps in the development of their solutions to reach the market more competitive and appropriate to their areas of activity. In 2016, the new incubated businesses earned around R$ 7.7 million, 60% more than in the previous year.

This year, the focus of the incubator is the commercial improvement of its entrepreneurs. In 2017, 11 incubated companies will have the opportunity to participate in a commercial acceleration program. Startups will receive, until December, four workshops on commercial techniques and fortnightly follow-up consultations to analyze the specific needs of the business. Kamila Bittarello, MIDI's technical coordinator, defends that at the end of the process the companies will attract more attention from the market: “Last year, the incubated companies received more than R$ 1 million in contributions. With the commercial strategy well aligned, we believe that this number will be even higher this year”.

Inside the incubator, entrepreneurs receive mentorships to improve their skills and consultations to develop their companies in the technological, commercial and management areas. The result of this process is that, even at an early stage, the solutions created approximately 150 jobs in 2016 and earned more than R$ 700 thousand in exports, which represents 10% of total revenue.

Consolidation

The success of the incubation process is reflected in the dozens of cases of companies that passed through MIDI and are now graduated. Of the 89 graduates in these more than 18 years of experience, 45 responded to a survey that revealed that these companies had revenues of more than R$ 223 million last year and generated more than 1,500 jobs.

The 45 companies consulted by the incubator received, last year, more than R$ 75 million in venture capital investments and generated more than R$ 31 million in taxes.
