The incubated companies of MIDI Tecnológico, an incubator managed by the Santa Catarina Association of Technology Companies (ACATE) and maintained by Sebrae/SC, had an increase of 73 % in their revenues in 2015, compared to the previous year, proving that new solutions can become profitable businesses, when they have qualified support for their consolidation. Investments made in research, development and innovation also grew, adding up to more than R$ 1.5 million last year.

With 104 employees, the companies in the incubator from Santa Catarina registered a gross revenue of R$ 5,044,865.00. Kamila Bittarello, MIDI's technical coordinator, attributes this growth to the companies' stage of consolidating products and services and conquering new customers and partners. Gabriel Santos, coordinator of MIDI, adds: “The reason for the growth is also due to the rigorous selection process to which the incubated companies are submitted. In addition to the follow-up of consultants specialized in innovation and the focus of the teams on their projects”.

specialized support

SensorWeb grew inside the incubator and is about to graduate. The company has been working with online temperature monitoring of environments that house hospital articles since 2009, being a pioneer and reference in this area. For Douglas Pesavento, CEO of the startup, MIDI was essential for the consolidation of the company by providing a wide network of contacts and exchange of experiences. “Consultancies are also very important, as we can count on specialized support without demanding high investments”, he adds.

The opportunities offered by MIDI Tecnológico have already helped 84 companies from Santa Catarina in the development of their businesses. The performance of 41 graduated companies has been monitored for two years. The collected data show that these companies, which employ more than 1200 employees, grew by 51% between 2014 and 2015, closing the last year with a turnover of R$ 155.8 million.

In the first half of 2016, three startups joined MIDI, two of them as pre-incubates – still in the validation phase of the innovative product, process or service that has market potential. Meu Carro is still developing an application for cell phones, linked to car dealerships, which helps drivers to schedule maintenance services in less than 1 minute. MisterVan, another pre-incubated company, is developing a solution in the transport sector, to bring drivers and passengers together, through a marketplace (website and app), which allows the hiring of group transport services. In a more advanced stage, ePHealth improves a solution focused on health, on two fronts: an Android system (mobile) for community health agents in the field and another cloud system for managers to monitor the activities and situations of health and sanitation of the population .
